2009 was our first season doing boat trips, and we concentrated on local 2 hour tours. As with all boat trips the weather was the biggest factor in deciding where we went. Given good sea conditions we would follow the shoreline of North Uist northwards admiring the stunning landscape of the rugged islands, and perhaps stopping for a little mackerel fishing as we watched the cormorants, gannets, auks, skuas and a host of other sea birds flying about us. Often we would observe a golden eagle as it flew high overhead, or the massive sea eagle as he took off from the cliff while red deer grazed nearby. We would explore the bays where herons nested and drift slowly past the common seals as they basked on the rocks. These magical trips will restart in May, leaving Kallin Harbour most afternoons.
